Seeing God's Glory
My home church, under the leadership of our pastor, has been focusing on pursuing God's presence through praise and worship. Our services are focused on the goodness of God and seeking His glory.
Pastor Aaron has referred to Exodus 33 during this time and talked about Moses' request of God to see His glory (Exodus 33:18). While thinking on these scriptures I kept coming back to the thought that God placed Moses in the cleft of the rock before God let His presence, His glory, pass before him. God told Moses “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you" (Exodus 33:19) but Moses had to be in THE ROCK before God's goodness or His presence could walk past him. THE ROCK! According to Psalm 18:2, The Lord is MY ROCK and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
If I want to be in God's presence I must be in the ROCK of my salvation! I am sure that I am not the first one to recognize this parallel. God placed Moses in a place of safety, deep inside the rock, and then, and only then, did God walk by and "cause all of His goodness to pass in front..."
When we live in and under God's glory, placed deep in the Rock of Salvation, we can experience all of God's goodness in our lives.
